Well, I'm moving Monday morning so I can start school again, which means that for now I have no money and am putting a stop to coin acquisition temporarily. I'm going to keep my coins back at the farm - the apartment I'm moving to doesn't have enough security for my liking and the farm is pretty much in the middle of nowhere with my fiancee's uncle to keep an eye on things.
The best part of marrying into this family is that they not only find my coin collecting fascinating, but they check their change for anything different and give it to me because they want to contribute to it, so I'm not concerned about leaving the collection behind. I left it with my dad for my first four years of college, after all, and he's the one who got me into collecting.
So I thought I'd share some of the highlights of my summer acquisitions.
There will be a number of pictures.

The above is one of my early summer finds - a 1960-D Roosie that I found underneath our dresser at the farm. It was a good find to start the summer.

As for closing the summer, earlier this week I struck silver in a roll for the first time - that little 1941-S dime stuck out like a gleaming white beacon of joy among all its younger clad brethren.

I also got a box for the first time this summer. I pulled a number of coins out of that box, but here are eight large date 1970-S
LMC. Not bad to pull that many out of one box, I reckon.

This was a summer of firsts for me. This half dollar is a double first for me - a first New Orleans mint coin and a first Seated Liberty for me. Don't laugh, but it's currently one of my oldest U.S. coins.

My first two and
Three Cent coins mark my first purchases of odd U.S. denominations. I've always liked the weird ones and I was really happy to come across a couple that I could enjoy for myself.

My very first sixpence - it's still pretty good looking, even at 112 years old. I've started collecting UK proof sets, but this got me started looking more seriously at their coinage.

This sixpence doesn't look quite as nice, but it's got something better going for it. It's from my fiancee's grandfather's birthyear, and she'll be carrying it in her shoe at the wedding.

But this coin right here is my favorite take of the summer. Got it for $30 at my local coin shop - the dealer had two and was going to sell them to another dealer, but the other dealer wouldn't take them without the original packaging, so they were just sitting aside. Such a beautiful design to it.
I hope that our other members who are poor college students or recent graduates (or poor graduate students) had as good a summer as I did.
