Maybe you could declare them as collectible medals without any currency value.

"numismatic token" is what I use when filling in the customs forms...and no currency value of course. when shipping insured, I still use numismatic token, but do declare a value.

I use "numismatic item" pretty much the same as epikur. I would also send it "registered mail" due to all the postal thefts.

Hmm... I'm shipping $10 face in Canadian and US coins to Canada, should I bother with any shipping extras like "registered mail"? [hmm]

argentum not if the coins are worth face value. no point in paying more for that than you would for a new batch of coins

I'm going to wish you luck, but for another reason - Nigeria is notorious as the home of so many scammers that we do not even allow registrations at CCF from that country. I would not even consider doing business there.

My 3rd day on ebay with the first item I was ever selling a Nigerian scam tried to get me. Luckily I decided to verify the payments they claimed had been made were actually in my account with paypal before shipping and thats when I had it confirmed it was a scam. Very legit emails and everything. They also threatened to call the FBI on me which gave me a chuckle.

But that experience is why I never sell internationally unless its Canada and the buyer contacts me first

wow..thanks guys, really appreciate your advice..but in my case I'm not selling my item to nigerian.actually there's a lady from UK email me and she wanted to buy this coin for her cousin who worked in south africa.and the payment has been made to her bank back in UK,and the bank also already confirm the payment.once they/bank got the tracking number and the reciept for the prove that I've shipout the item then the payment will be credited in my account.

hi all

on a second thought,i think you are right about shiping my coin to nigeria..
i felt something fishy about my buyer.so I did some researh and found tread about this, same situation like mine,a lady she said she's from UK and want to buy a cloth for her daughter and ask to be ship to nigeria.use the same bank(smile bank of scotland,UK)..same email that I've received and They also threatened to call the FBI on me if I failed to ship the item in 24hours...i guess I'm not going to have any business with that lady or that bank any more.any way thank you so much to all of you for suggestions and advice.on the bright side I've found this club(^^).

Glad it worked out for you. As I was reading your post I was thinking "scam" the whole time. I guess the postal service did you a favor by rejecting the shipment.

I was wondering just who those people think the FBI is. For some reason they must think the FBI is just sitting there waiting for a mail coin scam.

Yup, definitely a scam... As you already know. But anytime someone is buying for "someone else", or wants to send you more money than you ask and asks you to send the extra somewere else beware... I haven't had it happen with coins yet but someone tried to get me to ship a car I was selling from Mass to Texas for "his son".. And he could "only email" me (no phone) because he worked on an offshore oil rig.. O, and he wanted to send me more money so I could pay the person picking up and transporting the car... Ya ok.. Good luck on that guy.. I'm sure if if it hadnt had scam written all over it and I had done it as soon as I cashed/withdrew the money he would have put a stop payment on it and I would have been out all that money...If it sounds too good to be true, they want to send you more money or for a third party beware!!
