These little 5th century AE4's are some of my favorites to collect (I am focusing on harder-to-find but still within-my-budget emperors like Leo I, Marcian, etc). Not exactly the prettiest coin ever but it is of a scarcer reverse and I got it for super cheap. It is in slightly better shape than most bronzes of this period you will find. This coin has the Verina standing reverse.

Leo I

Obv: DN LEO, diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right
Rev: No text, Verina standing facing, holding a globe with cross and scepter, b in left field, E in right field, Constantinople, RIC 713, 11 mm

Another-Leo-I-For-My-Collection

Plenty of info on Verina here, and info on Leo, Verina, and Zeno, and on their coins here.

Interesting, but I thought the reverse was a cactus with a cross .

There are a few Leos on my late page above. His are the most common of the late-late rulers but nice looking ones are hard to find.
