Sorry for the long absence. I get caught up in my work and forget about my hobby for long stretches.

I am repatriating another Flying Eagle cent from Italy. Price was too attractive to pass up at just under 68 dollars.

Incomplete strike on both obverse and reverse is obvious. Not a real top shelf piece because of the anomally, but interesting enough at that price to put in my stash.

Your learned thoughts and opinions appreciated as to grade and reason for strike weakness.

I'd be willing to bet that original mint luster on these early ones that were Struck Through Grease would be really scarce, since the grease is a contaminant, and would really be forced into the pores of the planchet.

There's an Indian on ebay right now that defies that theory though. It's not a copper nickel issue though. It's a lter date bronze issue.
