i was just wondering if any one else has been spending the new dollars? I'm amazed at the reactions I get from people. most have never even heard of them and a few didn't want to accept them at first thinking they were not real. some retailers were annoyed because they don't have a spot in there draw for them. I guess the more I spend the more people will become aware.

I bought a whole roll just to spend and have fun with.
Most everybody seemed to know what they are, and many clerks used the word "neat" in describing them.
As far as circulating is concerned -- they aren't.

I've spent two rolls so far. People kind of look at them funny at first and then realize they're the new dollars. I had one cashier at a gas station put them in her pocket and replace them with cash from her purse. I also leave them as tips at lunchtime. Sure hope the waitresses know what they are!

I think the mint needs to promote new money more than they do for public awareness.

Since "circulation" indicates that the coins would be spent AND received in change, I doubt they will circulate. I know some of us "spend" them for whatever reasons, but has anyone actually received one in change anywhere other than a coin show?

I don't know any one that wants them at all. At one of the banks I go to I asked if anyone is asking for them and they said only little kids. I've never seen any of the baby dollar coins in circulation except the few I received as if they were quarters. I don't want any, will never collect them, hopefully will not get them in change unless someone gives me one as a quarter.

We have had quiet a few people asking for them at the bank, and today was the first time I actually saw people giving them back to us in deposits

I figure I'll collect one of each President, if I get any extras I will circulate them. I highly doubt that many will make it into circulation, it will be the same as the sac's and SBA's before them.

In my store I give a 10% discount on the total purchase if the person uses and receives dollar coins for their transaction. The usage is increasing daily and a lot of people like the coins.
Just doing what I can to help them circulate.
Still hoping that the government gets rid of the paper dollar.

I haven't seen one of the new dollars yet. I would love to see them circulate. If I could find a bank that has them, I would circulate them myself and watch the cashier's reaction.

An up-date to my earlier post.
Today, out of curiosity, I asked store clerks if anyone had paid for merchandise with one of the new dollars. The answers I got were "no." The only exception was a convenience store where the clerk replied to my question, "Yes, we have received one. It was from you!"
So, predictably, they're not circulating. Get rid of the paper dollar!!

I also said don't through them away it's real money.
