......too funny. I actually wrote to this guy earlier this week about this coin. I asked him what I was missing about this coin that he sees and I don't. I said its a 2-4 dollar coin at best and to please explain what I'm missing about it. He hasn't replied yet.

It is unique. There is not another 1901 IHC that has that exact same hole!

Old Skool is right, this is the unconfirmed small hole variety! This occurred when a small hole obverse die was mated with a small hole reverse die. Believed to be unique. First one I've seen. If I get the wife's OK I might go for it. This is a request for all other CCF members to stay away.

I reported this to ebay. Now it's wait and see if they pull the listing. Ed ANA LM-3175

I really don't think ebay will pull it. Coin is legit. Title is a bit off, but I've seen wilder claims. How many listings have you seen for rare coins that are in no way rare. On ebay, rare means that the seller has never seen one before.

The seller said it right in his title. "LOL COIN" That it is.

"On ebay, rare means that the seller has never seen one before." That is forgivable. But if this is an attempt to deceive or confuse ... Well, that is not forgivable. Among our tasks is to educate coin collectors about grossly misleading descriptions of coins. Anyone who has been here for ten posts or more should already have learned this. Just so sad ... At times, there is no educating those who will not learn.

Send them to me. I can drill holes for just $1500 each.

You could always take it a step further and use a Tap and put some threads into it...then put a screw into the freshly tapped hole, grind off the excess and then you would have an expertly plugged hole, kinda like the "Silver Plug" cent from 1793.

I have to send him a best offer! I only need an 1877, 1909s, and this super rare small hole '01 to complete my IHC collection!

What a nice seller. You can spend an extra $9000 to not have to wait.

Regarding the IHC posted by coinstar - I think everyone is being a bit harsh. The seller offers a 15% discount and free shipping. Did you see some of his other rare coins like 1950s and 60s canadian cents along with 'rare' Ikes in Avenue Silver holders? Regarding the link raymo provided to the CT Quarter for only $82K - was the ANACS label also Struck Through Grease? What does it say just above "Connecticut"?
