The coin was shot and weighed in the cardboard 2.5X2.5 because the dealer said that I could return it as long as it is still in the holder. The coin is not magnetic and the weight is approximately 26.95g calculated as follows: 30.03g(coin in the holder)-2.96g(average of 24 2.5X2.5 crown sized holders)-0.12g(4 staples). I picked this one up at a local coin show a couple weeks ago and would like to know if you think it is genuine or not. Any other comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I have few of them and nothing in your coin is switching immediate red light. Some rim nicks and possibly old cleaning(or could be picture)I would say-about AU grade range but I saw worst condition coins graded MS 60-62.Get it slabbed just to make sure is original and not cleaned.Surely worth spending few extra buck for peace of mind.Nice pick up

I am interested in buying one of these, but don't want to get ripped off. Can anyone give advice on how to spot fakes?

(I would not mind a fake if I knew it was one, and the price reflected the fact it was bogus. )

What I'm looking for
1)Sharp Britannia details
2)No signs of casting
3)Clear mint mark and fields
4)Never buy one from blurry pics unless seller got decent return policy

D0ubl3Eagle your TD looks real, nothing really jumps out in the photos. It looks silver and has some rim tics and toning in spots that do not usually show up on Chinese counterfeits. Check for pimples on the surface and compare to photos of other genuine BTD's on line. I think you have a genuine piece but without taking it out of the holder and weighing it properly you won't know for sure.

I had a feeling the coin might have been lightly cleaned or slightly overdipped but it does not look all that bad. I looked at the coin under a loupe and I did not see anything that resembled pimples. After all of your comments, I took the coin out and it weighed 26.93g and had a diameter of 1.533"(38.94mm). Thanks for all the help.
