I have a large collection of coins from all around the world, which my father purchased from a collector while he was in the air force, during operation deep freeze during the Korean War. He brought them home, and put them in a shed in his backyard. 40 years later, he gives me the collection. All coins were very dirty, and the individual plastic fold over packages had deteriorated and the staples were all rusted very badly; leaving each coin not too pleasant to look at. so, I did what I have sense been told , the unpardonable sin and cleaned the coins and then polished them with car wax. 95% look brand new now. my question now is I would like to put them into new cardboard and cellophane holders, but instead of using staples, I want to us some type of glue to seal them, and us a computer generated label to place on the holder, because my handwriting sucks. any thoughts from anyone would be very much appreciated. thank you all for your support and help. if the labels were large enough you could fold them over the open seam, but still not a tight enough fit for my tastes.
regular staples are probably just fine. use something to push/crimp the staples in really tight (on the back) and they wont catch on the 2x2 pages when you are putting them in.
polish with car wax? /cry...

There are "self-adhesive" 2x2 coin holders you can buy; they're a little more expensive, but they come pre-glued. The problem with using regular glue is that you don't know what's in it, or what adverse affect the glue fumes might have on the coin in a tiny enclosed space over the long term. Some glues are quite acidic; you don't want to put that kind of glue anywhere near your coins. However, since your coins have been ruined by improper cleaning and polishing, it would probably be better for them if they weren't put back in air-resistant 2x2 holders. Allow them to retone naturally. They'll never again look as good as they looked before you cleaned them, but they may one day look better than they do now. Sorry to sound harsh, but that's the reality of the attitude of coin collectors. Quote: 95% look brand new now. No, they don't look brand new again. They look cleaned and polished. Any experienced coin collector can tell the difference, and any coin dealer you tried to sell them to can tell the difference.

Oh my god! Sorry, that's all I can say and remain nice. Get the wax off with a dip and let them re-tone for the rest of your life.

They look shiny not new. shiny is not always a good thing. that cars wax just diminished the value really bad

What would car wax do to the cleaned coins? The substances in car wax? Unless you scrub them polish them real hard, if there are any silver will now be bullion value.
I was at my local show a few months back, and one dealer had a dansco commemorative album with 3 - 4 coins that had a dull shine to them. I look thoroughly and comment on why it look so flat, his reply was that it was polished awhile back.

Thank you all for such diplomatic comments. I'm sorry if I offended the Professional Coin Collectors. But your comments tell me that I am in a better class of people than I deserve. I would have used words like inept, inane, and idiot. I will look into the copper staples. Thirty years ago, I was in an adventure to gold plate the 1972 Apollo Space Dollars, and sold thousands by mail order. I came across a few, and as you can see, I don't think I used enough gold on them Thanks Again!!
