Due to recent onset of physical/medical problems, I now have unlimited at-home time along with nowhere to go/nothing to do/significant physical mobility limitations. I'm going to do coin roll hunting to burn up time, but am presently unburdened by any kind of knowledge or experience - in truth, I'm flat out clueless. For openers, which coin type would be most potentially productive to hunt - pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters or halves? Is the " Red Book" (which I just learned of the existence of) the best source from which to make up a list of what to hunt for? I have the $ to buy boxes of coins and a cooperative bank branch staff, so I can easily get all the rolls I'll ever be able to go through. Any and all help is much needed and would be much appreciated.

The Red Book is good as a general guideline. The prices are not very realistic, but the photos and information are very useful.

Productivity depends on what you're looking for. If you want silver, then mainly hunt halves and dimes. If you want to fill an album, nickels and cents are probably the easiest.

I'm a Disabled Vet and roll hunting is what I do, its fun and something to pass on the the little ones. I search pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, and halves. Started a collection and bought some albums to put them in. As always any questions ask in the forums and people will answer, use the search tool in the forum to look at old or new conversations about you current questions. I ask people on here a new question almost daily and get a prompt honest response. I also have started foreign coins, my grandfather sent them to me in 2005 and I just started to go through them.

Welcome and Happy Hunting
