Hello all, I was wondering if you knowledgeable guys could help me out with a coin I've had for 3 or 4 years. I have an 1911 George V sovereign, nothing collectable, I just bought it as a fun little investment.
I'm hoping to sell it, but there has always been one thing that bothered me about it; an uneven edge. If I look at the obverse side, the raised edge it from about 7 o'clock to about 3 o'clock.
This, I've recently found out, should set alarm bells ringing, but when I bought it (from one of the UK's largest dealers) I didn't think anything of it. The last thing I want to do is inadvertently rip anyone off, so I was wondering if you could share your thoughts. I've included pictures, and weighed it at 8.0g (just one some cheap ebay scales).
I don't see anything obvious, the weight is correct and the coin looks good except for that rim. It would be easier for me to say for sure with the coin in hand but from the photo I would vote that it is genuine.
