I bought some 2006 Lucky loonie coin rolls at Colonialacres few weeks ago.
It took them 3 weeks to confirm and ship my order, which wasn't that quick.
Anyway, I noticed 3 of the 4 rolls have handwriting "2006 flying loonie" on them.
I emailed them and they told me they won't be able to refund me the return shipping fee because handwriting on rolls doesn't affect it's value, if I were to return them.
Is it true? I've never bought rolls before.
Thanks!

The value of rolled coins isn't in the roll, it's the coins inside the roll. Throw the rolls out and reroll them if it bothers you that much...

Wayforwarded - I mostly agree, which is to say I don't agree! I think linekerca bought mint rolls, and I do think there is a premium (however slight) for still being together in the mint roll (i.e. the whole is greater than the sum of its parts).

Back to the original question though, I personally don't think the writing decreases the value of these, and if it does, it's not an amount worth sweating over.

Thank you guys.

I think I will keep them. As jg86 said, I do want to keep them as rolls.

BTW, @wayforwarded, is it easy to reroll them using the same roll paper? I think the original wrapping is kind of cool.

Instead of paper, they use plastic film on coin rolls these days, too bad.

Personally if I'm buying coins in a roll that were made 6 years ago from a company that could have copied the mint's paper, I would want to check the coins inside the roll to make sure that they are genuinely what I paid for. The premium of having the original mint paper is so slight and if you were ever to sell them as a collector and not a reputable dealer the buyer would want to open the rolls to verify that you're not ripping them off.

I just go to the bank and get paper to reroll the coins gently and if mint state I always wear coin handling gloves.
