Could you define "Hanging" for me? Is it that scrape above the 9's? Thank you-- I'm seeking knowledge.

Die clash profile of the queen on the other side of the coin. I have seen every year 1953 - 1964 but this is my first 1999. The scratch is actually the profile of the queens chin. The back of her neck is below the leaf.

Bm0ney, nice find, I love these die clash.
Here is a list of common terminology used instead of die clash.

Extra stem
Die clash found on the 40s and 50s. This is caused by the king's ear.

The cocoon
Die clash found on the 70s and 80s. This is caused by the queen's neck.

Hanging
Die clash found on the 50s and 60s.
Due to the position of the queen, hanging can also be found in the 90s. 1998 and 1999 are scarce, I have found a few but I have seen, and never found 1995 and 1996.

Kissing queen
Die clash found on the 2000s. This is due to the queen's lips. Never found a 2006 but have seen them and was lucky to find 2008 and 2009. But I never saw a 2009 posted anywhere.

Happy searching

I prefer to use 'die clash'. It speaks of how the net result (i.e., clashing of the dies and the design elements of the opposite dies imparting on the fields) of what we see was formed. It is an error, in my opinion, not a variety. One would run out of names, if you tried to apply the same logic to Victorian 5-cent and 10-cent coins, for example.

A nice die clash find :) l havent found the 99 yet but who knows lol. l have all of the single, double, triple and quad clashes like this from 53-64 that are widely known, l also have the 65 hanger and the 78, 80, 82 and 98. Those are the ones where the clash extends to the number versus the "cocoon style" mentioned above which l also have - so it seems l still need a few - 95, 96 and 99 - time to get some more boxes :)
