Condition looks spot-on to the grade on the slab (which I coincidentally saw this morning). I don't need to state the grade here, in case you wanted unbiased opinions.
Despite the knob on ear, which is pretty cool, this coin is actually rated as R1, the most common rating.
Thanks for not "spoiling" the grade too soon! Having an R-1 rating keeps the price resonable too. I guess it's the variety attribution that I liked other the "plain" Large Cent (scratched) that I now have have. (Strange that I don't have that one in photobucket either.)
I have seen earlier die stages where there is less of a "knob" on the ear. Do you know how many die stages there are? I wonder how big the "knob" got before the die was retired?
die states through g. g represents the largest knob and is 'extremely rare' - it appears to be exactly twice as large as your future coin here. It is under the T and Y as opposed to just the T in your picture.
Hmm, there was not much activity/interest in this piece, too much possible distraction with the "Days of Large Cents" thread, oh well;
robbudo, thanks for the PM, I got it last night, I may be having ramen noodles for a while, but I got it, over numismedia, but still under PCGS value, but still a nice upgrade.
I have a ANACS VF30 (scratched) Large Cent that I need to sell to make room for this one!
