In my quest for a Type II SLQ I have found a couple of nice ones; one is a 1917-P Type II FH (PCGS) and the other is a 1929-P FH (PCGS). According to Standing Liberty quarters Fourth Edition by J.H. Cline, "the 1917-P Type II has 10% or less struck with FH and the 1929-P has 50% struck with FH. The 1929 is second most common in FH, with at least 50 percent struck originally with FH".

What does the CCF think?

Thanking you in advance!

1917-P Type II (215 pieces in FH at this grade through PCGS)

They're both slobberworthy but the '17 stomps the '29 in every possible evaluation. This is not a difficult choice.

I chose the 1917 Type II to go along with my Type I, I like to play "what if"...I wish that I had the means to get both!

Take a stab at the grades. I will post the results soon!

...the 1917 does have a "point" (in more than one instance) over the 1929.

The 17 looks like a better strike than the 29 to me.
I vote for the 17.

Both are gorgeous. The 1917 has a bit more detail and stronger luster so I would go with it. Both appear to be MS-64

Too late Dave H, I snagged it last night. If it turns out to be a "lighting issue" I will keep you in mind...don't hold your breath.
