I recently bought this coin at a banknote and coin shop. I have absolutely no info on it, aside from that it is Japanese. A date, and value would be great.

Thanks.

I am afraid it's not Japanese: this is a yuan (Taiwan dollar) from Taiwan. The year is 49, which corresponds with 1960.
It is in Krause as Taiwan (Republic of China) Y#536 with catalog values VF/XF/Unc/BU : 0.10/0.20/0.50/0.65 US$

Thanks guys. I never would have known that it was Taiwanese if I hadn't asked! Also, thanks for the link, Yass.
