Thanks on the pointer to the reply process.

This is turning into quite the learning experience. I put a flash on the camera using my 100mm macro lens and the photos look quite different. Lesson on this is I have a lot to learn about optimal lighting.

When I uploaded these photos to the computer I had to go downstairs and get the coin because I thought I had ruined it somehow. What appear as black smudges in the photos are scrapes on the coin.

A lot of scratches but the luster present is not from them. Also seems to be a dye crack on the reverse between the a and the l in half.

To the naked eye, this coin does not show what we're seeing in these pics. Its actually one the most 'perfect' coins I've got.... I guess that would be perfect in eye appeal.

I really appreciate everyone's input. Get ready for a shock....

I tried uploading larger file sizes that give a better feel for the coin, but needed to reduce to under 100 k file size. Some detail was lost....

Yep, cleaned without a doubt.
This level of preservation should have ample luster remaining.

No doubt, cleaned and scratched. Still a nice coin for someone with a 7070 type set.
