I am a Newbie who just started collecting Silver Bullion. I decided to visit the nearest coin shop just to see what it was like. While there I saw a Horse Blanket with an X pattern on the back in a lucite case. I thought that was pretty cool looking. Where is a good place to start looking to find out out paper notes and there values? Thanks.

The used book prices can be very reasonable from time to time if your low on cash.

They have them for $7 at the moment...but the postage is so expensive to England it works out cheaper to buy a new one that is already here...which I did.

I don't like buying books really, they become out of date so fast...I think they should sell them in electronic format which updates the prices whenever you connect to the internet :P

ebay can tell you what certain notes go for...and certain sellers on ebay include the catalogue listings and price guide for the notes they are selling (they could be telling lies but there are some good and honest online note dealers listing many notes on ebay)

And welcome starbux :)

99% of the information doesn't change from one edition to the next. Putting out new editions is just their way of generating income. Realistically you don't have to but a new one for years.

Welcome to paper money collecting. While getting a book is fine, the prices are usually pretty off. I find the best way and most fun is to browse through ebay completed listings. There you can window shop and see the prices realized, you can also go to Heritage Auctions too but the prices there might be scary at times.

Can anyone tell me where you get those acrylic block display for paper currency. The Horse Blanket was in one and it made a great display piece imho.

Good Info in the better books will never go bad. And don't forget, the prices are only "guides" not what you can sell them for or buy them for.
