I'm having a tough time distinguishing between small bead and large bead 1978s. Obverse ABCD: Reverse ABCD: Obverse EFGH: Reverse EFGH: Report this Post to the Staff

I guess it's more obvious when they're put side by side for comparison. These are all pulled from circulation, by the way. A couple of them are in EF condition (at least). My next step will be to grade them so I'll get some closeups soon. Report this Post to the Staff
DBM Pillar of the Community Canada 9909 Posts	Posted 08/19/2012 11:41 am It's the denticles on the reverse which are either large or small, not the beads which appear on the obverse. Both varieties are still quite easy to find in ciculation, and while fun to find, and interesting to keep, they are both worth face value right up to gem uncirculated grades. The Aug14-27 issue of Canadian Coin News has trends pricing for modern issues, only published a few times a year,a useful resource if you're collecting post '67 Canadian.
