I will post pictures later tonight, but I have this dime and when I magnify it the S mint mark looks like it has a blob under. Is this a known error?

Most of the S mintmarks in 1979 were an indistict blob. At some point, a new punch was used, resulting in a clear mintmark (Type 2). These Type 2 mintmarks are much rarer than the Type 1 blob mintmarks. So, your dime is the more common type, and not worth all that much.

Yep it would be a 'blob'. Or a die chip.
