No guess the grade the time, although this is an overall beatuful SLQ, I find the mid-section distracting, is that a defective planchet? Should this have been identified on the slab insert, or would that annotation be distracting?

What do you think?

Thanks!

To me it looks like a great SLQ. I dont see anything that would
Make me think otherwise. If the price was fair I would buy it
in a flash.

No doubt that it is a great one overall...maybe I am looking at this too critically and should appreciate her "unique" qualities.

I've blown the picture up and I don't see anything wrong with the midsection other than maybe a slight stain. I don't see anything wrong with the planchet.

Looking at the images at GreatCollections, it looks like a rather large lamination that extends from the B down to the upper star on the right side. I would agree that it is a bit distracting and I would avoid any kind of lamination on a $400+ coin(or a $100+ coin for that matter).

On looking at the enlarged image I would agree with biokemist6 that it is a laminated planchet. Unless you are going to buy the coin as an error I would not recommend purchasing the coin. The reason it wasn't mentioned on the slab label is that the person sending the coin in for grading did not pay the extra for the error attribution.

Even though it is a mint error it is basically a problem coin and whenever the time comes to sell it the lamination will definitely be noticed and the potential buyers will probably not want it because no one will pay full market value for it.
