One of the smallest in size coins I have seen.

1883-Rep.-Mexicana

1883-Rep.-Mexicana

Is it a coin or a token? Not sure what I have.

It's a coin.

Mexico 1 centavo 1883. This type (KM# 392) was only issued in 1882 and 1883; unfortunately, the 1882 is much rarer. CV in the 19th century Krause for yours is $1 in EF.

If my thinking is correct, there are 100 Centavos(cents) in a peso. there are about 11 Pesos in the US dollar. So, unless my math is failing, that Centavo that you have is actually worth 1100 times face value. While it's only worth a dollar, that's a pretty nice increase!!!

Not quite right, tights - it's even better than that. While there are currently 11 pesos to the US$, the peso was reformed in 1992 with 1000 "old pesos" to one "new peso". So the (theoretical) face value of a 1 "old centavo" coin is 1000 times smaller than that. In other words, it's numismatic value is 1,100,000 times face value.

Thanks for the info Sap. That is just simply crazy to think about. I really need to work on my flux capacitor design so I can go back to the late 1800's and make some investments.

At that kind of an increase, everyone is going to want one. Maybe I'll start collecting them.
