When I wake up tomorrow I'm gonna get gas for my car since it's on E and stop by a few banks and see if they'll let me buy some dime rolls. I shouldn't feel afraid to ask for customer rolled should I? After doing $100 dollars worth of halves I want to try dimes now, I know when it comes to silver look for 1964 and earlier between Roosevelts and Mercury dimes, is there anything else I should look out for when it comes to dimes? Also, whats a decent amount of rolls to pick up for someone on a budget (even though ill just end up dumping them into my real bank account later on if I find nothing)

I personally like to also search for the following valuable dimes in addition to normal silver ones: 1) 1964-D DDR in 'DIME' 2) 1967 DDO3) 1968 DDO4) 1968-S DDO5) 1970-D DDO in 'AMERICA' 6) 1974-D double struck obverse 7) 1982 no P above the date AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST is the *** 1965 silver dime which is a rare error coin worth about $ 10,000: mdpmedia

wow, I think I'm going to need a magnifying glass to catch these doubled coins, thanks for the link, now since it says these can be random events, are the ones you listed to the most common or the most valuable?

Quote: are the ones you listed to the most common or the most valuable? yes, IMHO mdpmedia PS: If anyone else has any other valuable dimes(silver, copper clad, DDO or DDR etc) to be on the lookout for, please also add them to this list since I am sure my list is not complete.

dont be afraid! most banks are eager if not happy to let the rolled coins go, less shipping costs..

One of my two main staples on CRH. Half's being the other. Just passed the 200K mark on dimes searched. Lately just averaging one silver per $50.00 face searched. Used to be a lot better in the past 5 years or so. Stopped looking for the 82 plain. Too much on my eyes lately. I just scan for silver. If the 65 is there I will know it :) I will find one You will find cents, canadian's (both silver and standard) Bermuda, Bahama's, other misc. foreign coins etc. You will get short changed on the roll's. You will also find extra's. I weigh up ea. roll on my small scale first. Saves time counting. Use the oz. setting. Avg. is around 4 ozs. per roll. Depending on the wrapper type the range is 3.99 to 4.05 ozs. per roll. .06 in either direction will tell you if over or under one dime/coin. Good luck and have fun :)

And watch ou when you dump dimes. Many coin counting machines will count some as pennies.

MDP how is a double struck obverse created? Without both obverse and reverse double struck? Is it just a case of the planchet being stuck to the anvil die so only the obverse exhibits doubling?

look out for 1982 no P, the "P" mintmark on the dime will be missing.

i found my first error, it seems the thing that presses the image onto the coin missed it by about a centimeter to the right, are these worth anything? I'm trying to get a picture up but photbucket isn't working right now

That would be the result of what is called a Mis-Aligned Die. It's extremely common and is not worth a premium except in extreme cases.
