my grandfather gave me this penny today, and it had a nice pattern, I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was?
and I thought I would just upload it just cause I can :) hha

It looks like it's in pretty good nick,streaky planchet it's called.
The streakiness is caused by the metals not being mixed together properly.

Here is one of mine,The grading companies don't like the streaking much from what I've read but I like it.

what on earth would TPG's know about "Taste"
These streaky/wood grain coins are spectacular and add a whole new dimension to a coin

Have to agree with you there trout. The bias the TPG's give to luste and the penalties they apply for streaking quite often result in coins with little eye appeal garnering high grades and lower graded coins being more attractive. Give me a glossy bag mark free MS66BN penny over a baggy blotchy MS65RD penny any day of the week.
