Hum, ok, dsfreeworld,
There are people whose experience would be helpful here.
But they are not aware that this group exists.
I am poking them to consider the Internet to be as important for sharing knowledge
as contributing to a print medium.
I may fail miserably in the attempt, but I feel that I must try.
And, if I fail, I will be here alone as the sole voice of Barber experience.
[Well, no. There are others whose experience surpasses mine.]
There MUST be a group for Large cent and Half Cent collectors.
Mercs and Walkers, too.
We must BRIDGE the old school with the new school.
And if you do not "get" it, well, how else my I help you to understand?

Hi Matthew,
I'd like to point out that I've seen many CCF threads, as have you probably, with 500+ posts, that show we have MANY folks here in their 60's and beyond; I think that indicates a pretty good grasp of computers and the Internet. LOTS of Barber fans, too, I think!

Agreed!
I'd like to see more and more experts in other series contribute as well.
I am likely to be a pain to some of you. So be it.
Until I am banned I will continue to post my opinions.
Let us share and share, FOREVER!

I think you have to be PRETTY painful before they actually ban you! They give you plenty of warning beforehand...

I doubt very much anyone gets "Banned" for having an opinion on this site, If that was the case I would have been Booted out ages ago
Keep up the good work old Mate, Nothing wrong with having a bunch of "Old Farts" sharing their accumulated and invaluable knowledge with us mere fledglings
Otherwise we would all be up the creek without a paddle, Crikey we wouldn't even have a boat

I'd like to think so, JackB.
But sometimes my urge to ... well, I should back down.
I DO NOT WANT TO MAKE ENEMIES HERE.
But sharing is SO important, and I want to do so.
Maybe my style is not appropriate.
I shall retreat for the time being.

Let us ALL dance, trout!
We "buggers" need to stick together.
Hail Australia, land of poison snakes and pretty nice blokes. And Sheilas.
Just don't bite we poor Yanks! We do our best.

We don't fret too much about the snakes here, a politicians bite is far more toxic

Many laughs from this poor Yank!
And no anti-venom to put the politicians down?
Well, we are both in the same boat. Elections begin in two months plus here.
Tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber.
Coins, the antidote to that which makes life a pain.
Collect! And darn the torpedoes, FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Definitely have an uphill battle on that one when it comes to your slightly older peer group and the internet. I'm younger myself and grew up with the internet but have noticed with relatives that some of my older ones use the internet and some of them couldnt even turn on the computer if you left step by step instructions for them.

Not sure how doable this would be but if you or someone else from the group was willing to run as a go between for the computer illiterate of the group that could be a way to bridge the gap. Either something like having a way for them to submit questions have them get posted here and the answered relayed back whether in print or at a meeting and vice versa could be a way to get the knowledge shared without having to get them all on the internet
