Is this guy full of it, or does this large cent have gold embedded in it from a cloth used to clean the dies? My vote is BS. I think it's a plated then stripped coin.

So how would he know that a cloth in 1846 had gold particles on it? Rediculous to me.

How does he know it is gold and not a bit of brass from an alloy problem.

Sure, it is possible for gold flecks to be struck into a coin of another metal. However, it is just pure speculation without XRF data to back it up.

I agree, this is just a "I see something gold colored and going to call it gold" type of things. There is no way to tell its gold without actually testing it and I believe you would have to dig it out to actually test to see if it were real gold or not
