Another LRB error coin, double strike Fallen Horseman. I don't know the attribution.

I thought this coin was really cool looking with such a strong offset on the portrait(s). Looks like a Nabataean.

Do you think it's the same portrait or different ones?

What I can't understand about this coin is how the portrait is double, the spearing soldiers and the legends are double but the fallen horseman and the horse are not....nor the mint mark.

that is crazy cool...no idea how that happened. i'll be looking for an answer from the experts here.

I'd say it is a double strick of the same coin.

I'd say the horse *is* double. I se the horse's neck twice. The fallen horseman's turned-back head appears clearly only once because the second location has relief at that point where it would be, with the rotation and displacement the other parts show. Double strikes are neat! -- Warren

Yes, after I posted I saw the second neck of the horse.

It does makes sense that the rotation was just right so the horseman's head on appears once. What a coincidence.
