Please don't "clean" your coins. If you do make that mistake, when you acquire more knowledge about coin values, you'll be kicking yourself that you did.

If there is a lot of "green grunge" on your coins, you might be able to conserve them with Verdi-care. Once you get enough posts, PM BadThad to see how he treats the verdigris. Verdigris can destroy bronze and copper coins and spread to others when stored together.

Shermy, You can always clean coins in the future.
For every 100 coins cleaned, 99 come out bad!
You might consider this.
LEARN BEFORE YOU BURN YOURSELF.
At least, stay with this group a while!

So much depends on the coins. Usually it is not smart to clean any coins. Yet some people have found coins so dirty they didn't know what they were. If yours are just normal dirty, don't bother cleaning them at all.

i recently made a post like this, I had a very very very corroded and dirty steel penny that I found in the houses coin jar, I just laid it in some lemon juice for a couple hours and took a sock to clean it, but 99% of the time, do not clean them, you may end up damaging them more then they already are.
