Generally just keep the higher grades. Typical specimens of these coins are unlikely to ever have much premium.

I've been trying to find Pakistani coins for years in nice BU but they are quite elusive in the US. There don't seem to be any mint sets at all and the few coins I see tend to be pretty worn. I have some nice gemmy 25 and 50p from the '80's but that's about it other thjan the common pre-'65 stuff.

What's the situation there? Can you find anything at all?

I've long been impressed by Pakistan and her people.

Heh...was surprised to see my thread up again, too bad it was a mistake.

Hey cladking! There isn't a lot of interest in coin collecting here, unfortunately, which ends up breeding ignorance of the subject (sellers clean coins that were totally fine because customers will think that is better, storing it with sticky tape, exorbitant prices for fairly common coins, etc.), but I've managed to build up a collection of 51 XF to BU coins by type from 1947 (Pakistan's founding) to 2012. As far as I know, I'm currently missing 14 coins before I can have a complete set. I am also trying to collect all the coins from all the years, although some of those coins are even as lower than VG.
Even going directly to the State Bank (which handles all the numismatic stuff for some reason, rather than the mint), I was able to get a couple of the newer commemorative coins, but no mint sets or proofs (not sure if they make proof sets). Aside from the commemorative coins, the newer 2012 coins are usually in BU as well (as well as the stuff I had gotten before, of course).
You can check some of my coins out here:

Although I really should update that thread with the new coins I got...

Let me know which Jefferson nickels that you still need.
I have all of them from 1947 to 1965, some nice.
Perhaps a trade?

I still think you should keep as many as you can afford for now. Even attempt to make some almost completed sets of US coins. And although for now coin collecting may not be high on the people's minds now, in the future that may well change. With all the US troops over there I'm surprized you haven't tried them for coins. And as things tame down over there, and I hope it does, people may become more interested in hobbies and coins are always one of the top ones.
And for possible trading with members of this forum, that too may be a lot of fun. I don't think I've ever seen a coin from Pakistan.

I don't really plan to have any complete sets (with all the years) because I don't realistically think it is possible. I visit the US once every couple years, and change that people visiting here bring is mostly uninteresting.
Best to keep my mind on a reachable goal! One of each type (including the different mintmarks) is way more plausible. It isn't so much about being able to afford or needing the money (the stuff I have wouldn't sell for much at all), more about the space and organising.

Matthew and carl, I'd definitely enjoy trading here, haven't gotten that many posts yet, though. As for Jefferson nickels, I guess the only ones that I might be interested in are the San Francisco mint ones? Be glad to swap some Pakistani coins for those...I almost never have reason to visit the Western United States, so I never got any.

Nice list! I also keep the 1969, 1970 and 1970 D with "reverse 68". Does anyone else do the same?
