At a guess I'd say aEF maybe EF

The reverse looks quite a bit better than the obverse. I wold say aEF as there is quite a bit of wear around the hair on the obverse.

I would agree.
These are somewhat lightly struck on the obverse, probably due to wartime demands. Nice rims.
I look for hair definition above the King's ear. Lack of it can be due to light striking pressure, slightly worn obverse die, or very slight wear. Hard to say, because the mint lustre is almost always gone from these high points at EF.
Nice coin.

Ah well, kinda wished you had said aUNC to be honest.
It was sold as UNC, in my head I always put it down a grade. The aEF has made me :( but either way, another semi-difficult shilling added to the collection!

BTW: Thanks Sel for your tip to look at the hair above the kings ear. I always struggle with later dates, I'm much more content counting pearls and looking at the wear on the king's crown!

Fished the spillway at Blowering Reservoir once, didn't catch anything on that occasion.
