In 1951 proofs were made only at the Philadelphia mint. This coin is from San Francisco.

This is a very nice AU roll find of a low mintage (7.8 million) semi-key for the series.

Nice find indeed.

What muddler said. I have found older proofs from the fiftys and sixtys, you will know when you find one. Even if its worn. the steps are usually pretty full and there is sometimes a mirror finish to it.

BUT what if a person working in the Philadelphia Mint, flew to the San Franciso Mint, put one of his Proof Nickels in with the S Minted ones.
Really nice coin for one found in change.
