This note belongs to a friend and would like some information for insurance value. The note was in a picture frame not sure why. Any help or source of information would be great. Thanks All.

This One Pound note was issued between 1978 & 1984. Queen Elizabeth II on the front and Sir Isaac Newton with his telescope on the back. The signature appears to be that of D.H.F. Somerset, the Chief Cashier of the Bank of England. In XF condition the catalog value is shown to be $6.00 and in un-circulated condition $20.00. The last year of issue was 1988.

The signature on this note is J.B. Page (1978-1982).

It's in pretty poor shape. In this condition, this note is not going to be worth much more than face value. I suspect it was framed for sentimental reasons, rather than monetary reasons.

The serial starts with a Z which makes it slightly more desirable but I agree that because it is not in good shape it really doesn't have any collectable value.

Isaac Newton £1 notes of JB Page were issued from February 1978 until 1980. The serial on your note has a Z09 prefix. The first batches of notes had prefixes A01 up to Z81 ( with gaps), suggesting yours is from the earlier part of that year range.

From its condition, I guess your note would only be worth around £2, give or take a little.

Right on! The owner of the notes Dad was a career navy man and was stationed in many world wide areas.
He had an extensive collection that was divided up. I am only going through half of what he had and I'm amazed. Thanks again.
