I just picked this beauty up for my slabbed 7070 and wanted to know what the CCF thought of it compared to NGC.

Thanks for your comments!

Very nice coin! How's its luster?

The obverse fields look very clean and I don't see any major marks on either side. The only things I see are a couple of possible light scratches on the lower left star point on the obverse along with a minor ding at its tip.

I say MS-66.

Excellent addition to your collection!

Beautiful coin and a lovely addition indeed to any set.

I wish we had better photos that show the luster ... luster means a lot for grading ... that said ... my technical grade opinion is MS65.

I note the obverse minor chatter marks on the star wisely mentioned by commems ... and if you look closely you will some additional bag hits/chatter marks on the right leg of the eagle ... although the fields appear to be amazingly clean.

The reverse of this design is so cluttered that it hides very well any issues ... and none noted by me based on these low resolution photos.

Technical grade IMHO is MS65 ... NCG might have given it better.

Lovely coin ... and a worthy addition to any serious collection.

David

Looks MS-66 to me. I have this Half in MS-64 yours is sharper than mine is.
Great addition to your 7070 type set.

The NGC slab images show the luster alot better than the ones in the OP, which is kinda "satiny" (B&W?) and a slight (not much) die rotation.

Thanks for the feedback!

I was surprised by the grade of 64 -- the coin looked nicer in the original images posted. The resolution of the images must have "hidden" a few marks that NGC felt were meaningful.

In any case, you've got yourself a nice coin -- Congrats!
