I found these this summer with my metal detector. They aren't silver but they're still cool looking. The 1987, 1991, and 1983 all came from the same hole at an empty lot near my place! The 1984 came from my yard. This is how they came out of the ground; they were not heated or toned in any other way. I posted them here because I have never seen toned dimes that aren't silver. Also, as you can see in the pictures, some of these have dirt on them. Is there a way to remove this without damaging the toning? (it washes off non toned coins easily but I am wondering if washing these will change the toning)

pretty toning. I'm not experienced with grime removal so I won't comment.

Why not try the one you like the least with warm water and a bit of dish soap?

I just acetone dipped some of my toned pennies to get grungy stuff off. Toning remained. Penny unharmed.

I tried acetone on one of these. It worked great, the toning was unharmed and it got most of the crap off. How much do you think these are worth on ebay? I can't find any non silver ones that are comparable

I highly doubt that the newer, plated coins would come out of the ground looking like that...
