With all the talk about the 1858 penny I am wondering the condition and value of the pattern half that is being offered by the same seller?

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Considering that this seller has already most likely cracked out a high-end problem coin(1858 IHC pattern from a newly-locked post), doctored it, and then is now attempting to resell it with no mention of the problems, it would not surprise me that the seller is nothing but a crackout doctor- one of the worst kinds of coin dealers

Edit: Boy oh boy, did I ever call that one- chamblee is now a proven crackout con-artist as demonstrated by two rare pattern coins that once resided in problem holders but are now listed raw by him/her on ebay with no mention of their problems

Probably not worth the current bid, IMHO. I would suggest making a free account at heritage and browsing completed auctions of this 50 cent standard. It came in silver, too.

Thats the famed liberty cap, or Phrygian cap. On Seated Liberty coinage Liberty has it on the end of a pole.

Something about the color doesn't feel right. Especially with what has just happened, a definite stay away.
