With a mintage of just ten thousand I was pleased to acquire this issue in any condition. Most who have seen the coin are in favor of plugging the hole while I consider it part of the history of the coin and an irreversible alteration besides. My questions regarding this piece are as follows:

1. As I have yet to see a holed, plugged or otherwise altered coin in an ICCS holder, I'm wondering if ICCS will certify this coin?

2. Which details grade would you assign?

Despite the hole, solder and discoloration I believe the coin is still an attractive piece that has lost none of its identity.

Thanks

ICCS will NOT cerify the coin with the hole in it ,would consider it too badly damaged. Too bad it is holed a scarce coin indeed. Consider it a space filler till a better one comes along. As to NET grade details VG8. I just bought a fabulous NFLD collection on the weekend Bretons , decimal , and gold! Too bad there are NO customers!~!

Too much damage for ICCS.
Is that a Cud or crud on the obverse?

It looks like that hole is old. I wouldn't do anything to it. It went down a different path. If coins could talk, this one would spin a tale.
