I bought this tiny coin/token in Indonesia, it weights about 0,5 gram has a diameter of ca. 17mm and thickness ca. 0,25mm. I know that the higher valued VOC coins were produced in Netherlands while some lower valued were produced locally. It would be interesting to know which region this one is from. Since the language is non Latin it is hard to search. Can anyone help identifying the year of this coin? Also verify if it is real or fake.

MaVats: to the CCF! This is a copper duit of the Vereenigde Oost - Indische Compagnie. Has been rather harshly abrasive cleaned, unfortunately. Not to worry, these coins are reasonably common.

This is not a genuine VOC duit. It doesn't really look like one of the contemporary imitation duits issued by the Indonesian sultanates, either. But as for what it actually is, I've no idea, sorry. The "Arabic" script is deformed beyond my limited translation abilities.

I've never seen one like this before.. Maybe some modern 'hairy' fantasy piece? I really don't know..

That it is not a duit should be clear as it is much smaller and thinner than the duit. Maybe a 1/4 duit? Its weight seem to be about 1/6 of my VOC duits.
Whether it is made of copper or not I am not sure of, it looks very different from my copper duits.
For the hairy part I wonder if some kind of mold is growing on it.

Thanks Sander.
I am not too surprised to learn that it is a fake coin.

Thanks to Sander for asking over there, and posting the answer here. Now that I know where to look, the zeno.ru database page for the genuine coin is here. So this is an Indonesian imitation of one of those Dutch India coins.
