http://www.ebay.com/itm/us-coin-192...em2a227ad40eThis person also had a US 1959 Mint set with a Half, Quarter, Dime, Nickel & Penny up for a $500 starting bid. I messaged this person politely saying that their prices are way to high and that they will not be able to sell it. As I found that same set on Silvertownes site for $32. They messaged me back saying I was rude for doubting them, and they didn't just pick those numbers out their *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. I kindly retract the statement towards the penny auction. Apparently that is a rare cent.... Doesn't explain the Mint set though. Edited by colu41 09/06/2012 11:32 pm

What business is it of yours to tell this person that their prices are too high?

Probably looked up prices in the Red Book, saw the prices listed for ms 70's and said, "yeah that's what I have."

Well Jersey, it sort of is my business since I am out to buy, this person is out to sell. If this person has prices this high, obviously they don't have a clue what they are doing. I more or less try to help these people get their facts straight and help them try to sell there stuff. Instead of wasting their time posting it on ebay and never selling a darn thing.

Well Colu, I for one thank you! Regardless of what the jersey boys say, it was the best laugh I've had all day. If I had the time and interest, I'd follow those listings just to see if they do finally sell.

Well colu I for one appreciate the heads up. From the way the seller responded to your concerns tells me to avoid this seller. Most reputable sellers IMO would have responded more professionally.

colu, a person asking too much for a legit coin is really their business. They will sell it or not and thats all on them. I guarantee if you sent me a message telling me one of the items in my store was over priced I would certainly tell you where you could insert that opinion. The price police thing isn't cool. This is a persons livelyhood and so long as they are not cheating folks, it really is their business alone.
Now, coming here and posting a link and asking does everyone think the price is out of line or asking if those pics are as useless to everyone else as they are to me...no biggy. Or if there were reason to believe the person was trying to pass off a fake, then there is an issue.
Let the good old free market do what it does.

Well Smoker, you need to not sell coins then. If you are selling something that by all accords is a luxury item, not a necessity, and used at that, you have to expect folks to tell you your prices are too high from time to time. It is one way people open up dialog for negotiating a better price. Heck even Walmart offers price matching if their price is higher than other places. As a seller, the buyer has ultimate control. That is unless you are willing to sit on over priced items. If it offends you so much to be told your prices are too high there is a very simple solution...LOWER YOUR PRICES!

Colu, don't worry about it! You were absolutely within your rights to surface an opinion. This seller put two horrible pictures of a potentially rare coin on ebay. You called him on it because the pictures are horrible, and nothing on the 2x2 says anything about it other than "plain"! The sellers that are upset are way off base. They should at least acknowledge that the guy should have described it better. There is no way anyone could make an informed decision on those two photos. Those guys are profiling! Keep bringing these things up.

Comparing a best price policy of a large corporation to telling me my prices are too high is totally apples and oranges. Especially when I am being told that simply in a drive by fashion, NOT because the person is actually interested in my item and negotiating. There is a HUGE difference there. I have absolutely no problem at all with a reasonable offer: Hey, you are asking 650 for that 1859O Seated Liberty, I will give you 520... Well Mr h82w8, I appreciate the offer but I wont go under 620.... See, THAT is negotiation and perfectly fine. Now for what the OP did: You are selling your 1859O Seated Liberty for way too much money and you will never sell it that way. Well Mr Colu, you can shove it...you get the idea.
Not sure how someone can not see the difference there. Trying to buy something and dealing on the price and being the price police are completely different. The simple solution is for folks like the OP to mind their own business if they arent going to be buying. And if your opening line to negotiations is your prices are too high, then you need to work on your bartering skills.
