I am pretty sure it is legitimate because it is a fairly common coin. However, it is grossly misrepresented. It is not a US colonial coin, it is from Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie(VOC) aka The Dutch East India Company. VOC was a Dutch trading company that operated in Southeast Asia and Indonesia(location of the seller) from 1602-1798. The Dutch West India Company, an entirely separate corporate entity, operated in the Americas from 1621-1792 but they were out of the US colonies by 1674.

Honestly, the most likely place to find a shipwreck coin of the Dutch East India company would be Indonesia. Shanghai seller? Run away! Jakarta? I'd buy it.

Perhaps you paid a bit too much. The coin however, is quite OK.
These can be had from dealers' junk boxes in Sydney for perhaps half of that.
Perhaps these turn up more often in Sydney than in the U.S.
