The wife pulled from the local coinstar:
1946 Rosie dime (Ruff shape but silver)
2 newer quarters and 3 copper LMC

I got a newer but very abused nickel.

Free money is always good
Indeed!

On June 30th, I found a 1954 Quarter in a Coinstar. July produced a single beaten-up 1956-D Wheat cent, but no silver. August produced NOTHING of note. Last week, I found a 2009-D nickel in one. So, it had been almost 2 1/2 months since I last found a silver coin. Well, today was the day that Coinstar silver drought FINALLY ended! A single dime was sitting in the reject bin of one of the Ralph's stores Coinstar machines I visit about once a week...

Not sure if this has been asked before (200+ pages of texts are a lot to sift through), but I need a little help on cleaning coins. Yes, I said clean!
Last week I picked up a large batch of coins from a Coinstar; they were all pretty "gooey", and either stuck to each other or my hands. Not sure what they are all sticky from, but I'd like to get the goo off of as much as I can so I can either put them in my granddaughter's piggy jar or drop off at the bank. I tried to wash them with just water and towel but it didn't help much. I got around to using a Brillo pad to get most of it off the coins but still have quite a few still sticky.

Is there an easier way to scrub stuck on 'dirt' from junk coins?

If soap and water failed next the step would be acetone soak. Should get rid of any organic based goo.

You could also try denatured alcohol to see if that will clean them.

Found a handful of coins today at a bank coin machine. There was a few in the reject tray and I also found some in an empty trash can. Couple of Canadian Dimes 1974 and very shiny 2010, and then an assortment of Euro coins. Couple of recent pennies and nickels as well.
