My once reliable Safeway Coinstar has gone dry for the last few months. Not even a corroded penny or a golf token.

The service counter at the same location used to be good for halves, SBA's and the occasional Ike or foreign coin but that too has dried up.

I have no idea what is happening here, it has been so long since I came across anything cool I have forgotten how it feels. I got real excited yesterday when I found a Bicentennial quarter in my change!

If I had to guess, I'd say that a coin collector started working there...

It's been a long time since I found anything worth more than face value in a Coinstar. Well, today was the day that changed. No, I didn't find silver, or a Wheat cent. I found a 2009-D nickel!
Very nice!

The wife strikes again.
This time she found a Filipino 25 SENTIMO from 2014.
Not surprising this town is mostly Filipino
it was near the coinstar machine.

I made an unscheduled stop at lunchtime today at a supermarket I only use occasionally. The Coinstar is nicely out-of-the-way down a dark alcove. As soon as I approached it, I could see there was something in the reject slot!

USA: 2008 cent, 2016D dime and 1974 quarter. (The quarter looks like a possible DDO, but I suspect it's just a combination of a late stage die and 40+ years of circulation that have caused the 'IN' of 'In God We Trust' to look so weird).

Canada: 10 cents 1999

Plus two Eagle gaming tokens. I suspect that these have been used for a 'treasure hunt' with a detecting club or at a kids' party, as both had splodges of white paint on them, perhaps so they could be recognized by the finders.

The wife pulled from the local coinstar:
1946 Rosie dime (Ruff shape but silver)
2 newer quarters and 3 copper LMC

I got a newer but very abused nickel.

Free money is always good.
