Finally something good to add here:  Went on a break, and these were greeting me in the reject slot...  A 1987 Canadian dollar and my very first SLQ quarter at a coinstar were the top two finds here  Type 2 SLQ, Philadelphia mint, could be from 1917-1924... |

Found a 1964 dime yesterday, as well as a 1947 nickel. At the end of the year I will count my 'find total' for 2023 and post it here.
I don't go out as much this year. I used to go out shopping (and therefore check Coinstar machines) four or five times a week; now maybe twice weekly.

I got this from a Coinstar bin today. Looks like a British penny, but it's got to be a fake due to the terrible pic of the queen. BTW, I know very little of foreign coinage, so if this really was a coin, would it be "English", "British", or "United Kingdom"?   PS: 2.09 grams Edited by atticguy

Most definitely a fake, atticguy. Probably made for cheap jewelry or some other accessory. A genuine 1989 UK penny should weigh 3.56 g, and look like this one from '97. I believe that the preferred adjective would be UK, as these coins are used in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland (I think). People of the latter three countries would be greatly offended if you referred to them as "British".  Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
