72¢ , a 1968 Netherlands 1 Gulden, and a CR2032!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Yesterday when I stopped at one of my "dump" banks to ask if the tellers had any half dollars, I noticed that the reject cup on their coin-counting machine was almost completely full of 1943 steel Lincoln cents and other coins. I could barely hold all of them in my hand. I showed them to one of the tellers, who explained that the bank was sponsoring a "penny" project for local elementary school children: i.e., they could cash their pennies at no fee, and then donate the money to a school project. What I found was: 81 steel cents (most of them in rough condition) 4 wheat leaf Lincoln cents minted between 1912 and 1939 A 1936 Buffalo nickel (also in rough condition) Several Canadian, UK, Euro, and UAR coins Several modern Lincoln cents in rough condition An old MBTA subway token, and some kind of token associated with MIT It occurred to me that the student who cashed the steel cents also may have dumped a large number of wheat leaf coins that the machine accepted. I asked the teller if I could purchase the cent bag after it becomes full. But she told me that isn't possible.

I have been getting a nice mix of change lately from the machines. These 2 were in the reject tray all by themselves a couple of days ago.

I've had a long dry spell when it comes to coin machine finds, but yesterday broke that.
First, I found 3 dimes & 4 pennies in (and around) the machine where I've had my best finds (including 4 coins over 100 years old, 2 of them silver).
Then, I saw a couple of people using another machine where I've never found much. I was able to check it out when they were done, and found the following in the reject tray.
Regular spending money: 3 quarters 6 dimes 1 nickel 18 pennies (total $1.58)
Other: Modern Japanese coin (10 yen) 1964-D dime (my 3rd coin machine silver!) 1954-S penny (this is a duplicate so I'll spend it eventually)
