I have been collecting the Nat'l Parks series from the mint. I also have rolls of all the State Quarters. It has just been the last two offerings where I have noticed that in addition to the normal 'P' & 'D' mint marks that they are now offering the 'S'. Is this new or have I been so unobservant that I have missed it all this time?

They are new. 2012 is the only year so far that they have been issued.
Not certain if they will make them for 2013.

They are much nicer than the P and D issues. I enjoy them!

I appreciate your information but isn't this sort of 'dirty pool'? It's like changing horses in midstream. There is very little consistency with the mint anymore. If you had made albums to hold the coins when they started, now you would suddenly have an additional mint mark to buy or find (in order to have a complete set) and nowhere to put it. I thank you for the validation that I'm not crazy and didn't just imagine this.

Im doing an ATB album too but am staying away from the S. I dont mind the idea of an S too, but dont introduce it mid series. Even if they continue it for the rest the start of the series wont have it which I really dont like. They should have either done it from the start or waited till another one.

But the mint is basically looking for any excuse for S products this year so I guess we should be happy they only did it for the quarters
