I see sets on ebay that have a COA and blue inner envelope with a window in it and a red outer envelope. The set I bought at the mint 36 years ago just has two white cardboard sheets and a red envelope. Did I miss something or where there multiple variations of this set?

I don't know, but there may have been multiple variations. Mine has the blue holder over the mint set.

Did it also have two white cardboard sheets and a white stripe across the top of the plastic?

I believe it did have 2 sheets more like thick/heavy paper. I could check when I get home.

Thanks. Can't imagine that I would have thrown the blue part out, but maybe. My guess is that the mint added it later to make it more fancy like the silver proof set.

Actually there were different sets issued by the mint...remember they were issued for two years 75 and 76.

I must have the 76 set because I also have the 76 P-D uncirculated set. Picked up all three sets on a mint visit way back when.

There were two variations of the packaging of the set. The blue holders are the more commonly encountered ones.

Nononononono. There were two sets, the uncirculated and the proof, thats it. The pictured one above is the uncirculated set. The set came with the celophaned coins separate from the blue frame. On the inside of the blue frame cardboard is an adhesive strip that is covered by a piece of white wax paper.

There is no difference between the 75 and 76 minted SILVER sets. With the regular mint and proof sets there is a difference with the Ikes only. But as I said, that does NOT include these silver sets.

Here is the proof set (note: This came in a white cardboard sleeve that I didnt cram into the pic)...

And here is the unc set...

I have both the top set minus the fancy foam box, and the bottom set. My uncirculated set does not have the rectangular blue part. I don't remember it ever having it (but it's been 36 years). Just two pieces of cardboard just like they put in the mint sets.

They all came with it, so either it was lost at some point, or you got a defective package missing the frame.
