I have been going threw rolls for a while and every once and a while Ill come across a coin with what appers to be an x carved into the back up towards the top does this mean that someone has searched the rolls previously or is this a known PMD coin. This time I am seeing a lot of these making me lose hope of finding something good lots of coppers though.

I would say PMD but strange they put it on a coin. Interesting a new one on me.

its definitely PMD and if you are seeing it pretty often I would say you are using a bank that someone is using as a dump bank

People like to punch or just scratch up coins for some reason.

reading up on error and variety coins would be a good idea. you can get an idea of what could possibly be and what is not.
