Picked up this neat Roman Provincial from a dealer today. Bought as unidentified, after a few hours of searching and Googling I narrowed it down to the city of issue: Tripolis, Phoenicia (now known as Tripoli, Lebanon).

The coin features an ancient temple in the city; sources claim it to be the temple of Astarte. Can't be certain who the emperor on the obverse is (there's not much left of his name and titles), but it's probably Elagabalus, circa 220 AD. The coin originally bore a date, in the lower left corner of the obverse, but it's worn away or off the flan of mine. Pity. Still, it's another coin issuer for my "ancient OFEC list".
