They moved from Texas to Virginia? I'll see if I can catch them as they go through Maryland.

They hack existing accounts, and sell from them.

so you buy from people just to leave negatives, sounds very dodgy to me. almost as if you are in some way trying to manipulate the system?

Quote: yet you had a problem with me exposing the same? The same? Not hardly. You were flat out stating as fact, naming names and posting links, that specific sellers were using shill bidders. Absolutely, positively, impossible for anyone on the front end to prove and leaving yourself and more importantly the forum owners open for litigation. I however sit in the privacy of my own home and try to thwart these sellers, who are openly breaking ebay rules, on my own without putting others at risk. While others just whine and do nothing.

well if you bothered to dig into it you would notice an alarming pattern of people having all bids with just that one seller and then no activity, not to mention the items that he sold that where being reposted for sale. and did I see mention of that person being named before for dodgy sales before the topic disappeared, shame that I thought we are all here to help each other learn. and there was a chance that topic might save a newbie from spending big and having their interest in coins destroyed. and question, you have 35 ebay accounts so you can leave neg feedback to dodgy sellers, what criteria do you use to decide if they are dodgy? do you buy 1 coin from them and base your feedback on that alone? or do you buy from them several times to see if it was an honest mistake? if so that must be an extremely costly enterprise. you really do have me curious as to how you set the standards for making your judgements

I know these guys, they find a photo of a 20K coin from heritage and list it with 10 available. They don't even have the coin and even if the did you can't use stock photos, the auction will be pulled. I report them straight to Judith and they're gone shortly. In the meantime, I BIN one and immediately neg them to warn others. I don't send them any money. Duh.

do you have the proof? from what you have said you dont even get to see the coin in hand, if not, then there is no chance for the seller to prove they are above board as you have already left neg

Yes, my IDs are already blocked the second they register a new Id. So I create a new one too. Already chit-chated with ebay about it.

For the record, this is a case-specific solution to a known serial account-stealer who uses the exact same modus operandi every single time. It's not like we don't know who it is the moment they appear again. For another thing, although scubu has pushed me to within an inch of giving him a vacation on more than one occasion - you look past friendship in these cases - he lives rather close to me and I know him personally. As in, the next time we break bread together to discuss stuff like this won't be nearly the first. If there is a more dedicated Ebayer (he's a large-scale seller, as well) and a more passionate (and successful) advocate for protecting ebay buyers, I don't know who that is. Yeah, he gets to do things on ebay that you and I might not, because they know how important an asset he is. Don't expect me to ever disbelieve what he says here, because I know (and he knows) I can take him to task face-to-face.
