Fair Price For Complete Set Of W.l. Halves (Minus 1921-D)?

Kefiroth Pillar of the Community United States 1431 Posts	Posted 09/10/2012 9:18 pm I know of a complete set of Walking Liberty halves someone's selling sans the 1921-D, with most of the coins probably grading AG to G. Look at it this way, you can pick up most of those coins at silver (about $600), then you have to add in the 21, 38-d, maybe some of the obverse mm. Eh, I might be in at $700-$750. Silver is above 33/oz making a 90% silver half worth above $12 each in melt. 65 coins in the set, minus the one missing. 64*12=$768. Several of those 64 coins are NOT melt value though. The 21P &S, 16 & 17 mint marked and 38D carry premiums and other teens and early 20s carry some premiums over melt if the condition is above AG. I'd be jumping all over it for $800. 38D alone is running $65 in G-VG range. Report this Post to the Staff

I also was not aware that silver had gone up that much. I thought it was in the 29-30 region, so $800 might not be all that bad actually. Report this Post to the Staff
ghostrider Pillar of the Community United States 1116 Posts	Posted 09/11/2012 11:57 pm Okay, time for a question about pricing and overall value. There are over 65 spaces in my Walker Album. My silver coin price shows that 60 walkers (knocking out high value coins) would have a silver melt value of $730 when silver is at #33.61 / ounce (which is just about the tonight's overnight price). So $800 could be a tad high but livable considering. BTW, melt value for 1 coin at that price is $12. Numismedia is showing a value of over $1K for the three 1921 coins in F12 condition.
