Click the "gear" at the bottom of the YouTube player, and select 1080p. It looks much better. Pictures will be up soon. (Yes. I know, I made the mistake of filming with my phone vertically, so the video is not widescreen) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sC89xfuWzM

The video shows a more "realistic" in hand view of the coin, the photos really emphasize any little mark. *I should also mention that these pictures were taken through the holder. So I am sure, some of those marks that are showing in the fields are actually on the holder.

The one gouge from the eye to the nose *may* keep it from 65 (it's every bit 66 otherwise), but it's no worse than PL and obverse-limited at that. The reverse is blinding. You know how to test for PL/DMPL?

Sort of, how should I test it?

That is stunning! I take it you will not be returning that one.

Quote: Sort of, how should I test it? Held vertically, against a newspaper. If you can clearly read, in the field of the coin, newsprint 6" or more away from it, you've got a good shot at DMPL. 8" is a slam dunk. That's the coin itself, not your eyes; if you're anything like me you'll need a magnifying glass to look at the coin.

Well, I don't think this coin will make DMPL. However, I think it is a strong candidate for being PL.

Quote: I also got it for a pretty good price. I don't know what that number is, but I'd instantly throw $250 at that coin and buy every one I could get at that price. And that's predicated on the obverse being PL only. It's a 4-figure coin if it makes DMPL.

If your intent is to flip it at some future point, then yes. PCGS only, though - if it makes PL the price gap between PCGS and the others is even wider than if not.

Doesn't seem worth it then. I would need to get a PCGS membership. Then it would cost at least $50+ to get the coin graded.

I think the coin may make MS-65 PL. The obverse looks like it could be DMPL but the reverse looks it may be PL at best. PCGS would likely bring more money but NGC and ANACS are not bad options either. NGC could give it a star if in fact it is DMPL obverse, PL reverse.
