I shot my coins on my bellows tethered in live mode with the Canon software. My understanding is that doing this (or shooting in live mode generally) was sufficient to enable the electronic first shutter curtain feature. But I hear a click sound (shutter or mirror or something) at both the start and end of the exposure. I haven't noticed any sharpness problems, even at high magnifications, but maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

Do I need to enable a quiet mode or mirror lockup function in addition to get the EFSC advantage?

The click sound is there no matter what. Quiet mode has no effect on Live View shots. I'm not sure what the sound is, but it has a high pitch whine associated with it so it may be a DC-DC converter working to power the shutter.
